Diploma of Contemporary Pilates and Teaching Methodology (National Code 10596NAT)

Studio Equipment Certification requiring Certificate IV or equivalent as a pre-requisite. This program leaves you equipped to specialise in your area of interest and become an expert Pilates practitioner with a holistic approach to health and wellbeing.

Integrated Diploma - many stuents choose to study both the Cert IV and the Diploma programs blended together

Develop the skills and experience to successfully enter the workforce as a Pilates Instructor capable of making adaptions to meet special needs that arise in the health industry, including pregnancy, rehabilitation and movement therapy.

Classroom Contact

These contact weekends are delivered Friday afternoons 2-6pm, Saturday afternoons 2-6pm and all day Sundays 9am-6pm, spaced 3 weeks apart for optimal timing of digestion, processing and learning of the course content. Certificate IV content is delivered over 4 wknds, Diploma is 3 wknd, and the Integrated Diploma is a total of 7 wknds.

You are granted full access to all the learning materials and assessment tasks to complete throughout the program, giving you the flexibility to work whichever time of day wuits your schedule.

Both the 52855 Certificate IV in Contemporary Pilates and Teaching Methodology and the 10596NAT Diploma of Contemporary Pilates and Teaching Methodology courses will provide you with client assessment skills, exercise prescription and teaching techniques, as well as a solid understanding of anatomy, physiology and associated pathologies.  

Both courses equip you with the knowledge and skills to make informed assessments and design outstanding improvement strategies for low to moderate risk clients.  

The 52855 Certificate IV in Contemporary Pilates and Teaching Methodology is suited to students wanting to pursue a part-time or full-time career as a Pilates Matwork Instructor, either within an existing Pilates Studio to work as part of an Allied Health team. The 52855 Certificate IV in Contemporary Pilates and Teaching Methodology is the entry requirement for the 10596NAT Diploma of Contemporary Pilates and Teaching Methodology, which extends your experience and capability to work effectively with equipment and clients within a rehabilitation or fitness setting.  

Graduates will have sophisticated skills in Pilates repertoire, teaching and assessment, problem solving and be able to apply solutions to a defined range of unpredictable situations. The Certificate IV course is a comprehensive course equipping the graduate with a solid understanding of Mat work and the Diploma course provides a solid understanding of small apparatus and equipment Pilates.

About your trainers

Bruce Hildebrand
Course Provider, Lecturer, 15+yrs Pilates Studio Owner

B. App. Sc. (Human Movement) Body Control Pilates (UK) Certified Pilates Teacher Certified Franklin Method ® Movement Educator Member, Australian Pilates Method Association (APMA) & Pilates Alliance Australasia (PAA) NLP Practitioner Training 2009 Workplace Training/Assessment Strength Coach Consultant to the Australian Ballet School 2006-2011.  

Bruce originally trained in Pilates in 1999 with in the UK with Body Control Pilates, working alongside some of their most experienced training teachers in the central London studios. He co-founded Balance & Control Pilates Studio in Melbourne in 2004, heading up a team of 20 Pilates and Physiotherapy practitioners across three studios.

Bruce served as consultant Strength Coach to the Australian Ballet School from 2005-2011, and has trained a number of elite Australian sport and art performers, including artist with the Australian Ballet, AFL footballers, Olympic athletes, Australian netballers, basketballers.  

Bruce’s enthusiasm for Pilates led him to train with teachers from around the world, including Siri Dharma from Los Angeles and Michael Miller from Colorado. In 2002, Bruce began to study with world-renowned movement and imagery expert Eric Franklin. Bruce went on to complete the full Franklin Method certification, and was the pioneer Franklin Method® Educator in Australia in 2004.
